What to Expect When You Book James Lorenzen

We know that your decision to book James Lorenzen for your meeting is an honor that carries a responsibility. Here's what to expect:

Pre-Program Preparation

  1. Jim will take the time to learn about your group's needs and objectives.
  2. His program will be tailored with content to meet and exceed their expectations.
  3. Jim will remain available for any advance planning consultation the meeting planner and sponsor feel necessary.
  4. Keep everyone 'in the loop' regarding travel plans and arrival time.

On Site

  1. Jim will 'Check-in' with the planner/sponsor immediately upon arrival on-site.
  2. Be accessible from the time he arrives until the time he leaves.
  3. No surprises.
  4. James Lorenzen will dine in his room the evening before his speech/program and retire early.
    1. Note: While client is to be direct-billed by the hotel for all charges, including dining, any incidental charges will be paid by Gardner Hathaway, LLC. Jim will handle this at checkout, so all deductions are made before the client is billed by the hotel.
  5. James Lorenzen will be in the meeting room for a sound check well ahead of time and coordinate with the set-up crew and other presenters to make sure my needs fit your overall needs. Jim may be able to make suggestions to the crew as to how to maximize audience impact through creative use of lights, sound or staging.
    1. Interesting Story
      On one occasion, many years ago, Jim was to be the full-day speaker on a Saturday. On a hunch, he went down to check on a hotel meeting room at 5:30 a.m. that was to be set-up for 800 people by 9 a.m. The room looked like a war had taken place with bottles and trash all over the floors. Absolutely no preparation of any kind had been made. Jim immediately marched into the hotel kitchen as a 'self-appointed hotel manager' and started pointing, "You, you, and you, come with me." He took them out into the room, gave them their marching orders, and they immediately set out to get the people they needed to set-up the room. It was ready by 7:30 a.m. and the meeting planners never knew about it. Jim never told them.
  6. James Lorenzen always presents a professional appearance.
  7. He will provide an easy, brief introduction and be available to coach the introducer. Let's face it; It's the introducer who 'sets the stage' for the program. Your introducer should be someone who is FUN and ENTHUSIASTIC.
  8. James Lorenzen will be there, seated and visible to you, well before his introduction begins.

The Presentation

  • He will 'hit the stage' with energy and enthusiasm.
  • You will never hear off-color language or material in a James Lorenzen program.
  • James Lorenzen is always on-time an on-schedule. He'll adjust to keep you there.
  • Audience interaction and involvement. It will be lively.
  • Quality, relevant content.
  • Stories and humor.
  • Problems will be handled maturely, good-naturedly and flexibly. This includes: audio visuals, lights, sounds, emergencies, etc. He's been there, done that over 30+ years in speaking and even before his business career during his years in broadcasting and theatre.
  • Jim will never be rude to an audience member.
  • Questions and comments will be encouraged throughout the program
  • Sales pitches - Won't happen. Jim will simply answer the questions unless specifically asked by the sponsor or an audience member. He doesn't like the 'huckster' image any more than you do.
  • Products will be offered at the program only if current relevant programs are available and the program sponsor has agreed to this in advance.

After the Presentation

  1. James Lorenzen will stay in the hall for a brief period to answer questions. If you have booked more time with him, he will help in any way possible.
    1. For example, one association had a series of 'round-tables' as their next session, with attendees rotating among the tables at specified intervals. Jim stayed and hosted one of the round-tables for the entire afternoon.
    2. In another program, Jim was asked to participate on a panel program for management. Others have asked him to conduct 'breakout' session workshops.
  2. Check out and depart with minimal effort to you.
  3. Expenses: Since all travel expenses and a flat out-of-pocket per diem is pre-billed and paid, hotel room and meals are direct-billed to the client, and Jim will pay incidentals at check-out, there will be no additional expenses billed to the client. Any additional expenses will be charged to Gardner Hathaway, LLC, unless incurred at the specific request of the program sponsor.
  4. Product orders: If product is made available at the program, any sales will be promptly fulfilled. Members will have the opportunity to sign-up for James Lorenzen's eZine or blog to continue their learning, if desired.
  5. James Lorenzen will suggest follow-up strategies to help insure learning goes beyond the 'good show' stage to actually increase performance.
  6. Jim will never disclose any sensitive information about your organization.
  7. He will also accept personal phone calls or emails to follow up on the speech from individual audience members or executives.

You can expect a high-content, high-energy, highly professional program.
